“Oh gosh I feel like I am bothering you all the time with spiders, I’m sorry HAHA! But do you have any idea what this little guy is? It’s one my friend found. I really don’t have a clue, the abdomen shape reminds me of those cat-faced orb weavers but the other characteristics don’t really match up? Any ideas? Thank you so much as always!”- starberryswirls
You are not bothering me at all!!!  I LOVE the ID practice!  Fortunately, I was able to ID this beauty immediately because I often see these Flower Crab Spiders on the wildflowers outside of my house.  Your Crab Spider may more specifically be the Goldenrod Crab Spider, Misumena vatia, here is a very close match on bugguide.  These spiders are ambush predators, they are almost invisible on the flowers they live on, patiently waiting for a pollinator to get too close.  They are often yellow or patterned but I personally have always thought the white variety was the prettiest.  Keep the submissions coming!

Right on, right on, Andrea! Beautiful photo, too.

go-orgoahead said: How cool. I’d be so afraid of hurting one.

They get pretty big, Cecil! The species I’d like can grow up to six feet long! They’re just so pretty, but also need a lot of care. It’s a big decision that’s going to take me even more time, now that I know more about what’s involved. :)

Today is Personal Post Friday, I guess.

I’ve been thinking about getting an iguana; have been, at least, for several years. But, as I’m reading, they are actually very difficult to care for. Which is good for me to know, now! Not that I’d go out and get one without reading everything I can, first. That’s stupid. Just like I intend to get a few books on dogs, if I ever decide to get my own. Despite being raised with dogs, I’m sure we’ve all been doing something wrong over the years.

So, yeah. I’m looking at photos and reading articles and all these pictures of iguanas are making my face hurt from smiling. They’re just so beautiful and amazing!

I’ll keep reading- maybe buy a book, to start- and we’ll see what we see. …I’d want them to be free-range, in my house, but I’d have to give them their own room and keep them there when Mum visited. She said she’s okay to be in the house with one, but wouldn’t want them loose in the same room with her.

Latest figures arrived. Cell, Future Trunks & Radditz. These are super rare OG statues. Released back when DBZ first aired.

Shit. Damnit. I want Cell and Radditz.

A Decade of Spider Knowledge

This month marks ten years that I’ve been studying and handling spiders.

I should throw myself a party.

I’m reading about the blue iguana. Now I want to base Zarbon and his entire species on them! Or at least borrow some traits. I’d sell my feet for the level of artistic ability I need!

before i die im going to devise an elaborate treasure hunt for my grandchildren to follow that ends in them unearthing a huge treasure chest with nothing but a single paper inside that says “you have way too much time on your hands”

Oh Grodd, I’m so sorry! This is the best of four photos I took of a tiny, green spider on my car about an hour ago. Sometimes my phone’s camera really sucks.
He’s an orb weaver (Araneid), but there are a lot of different guys he could be:
A. bonsallae
Maybe A. juniperi
Your guesses are as good as mine. Remember- I’m in Pittsburgh, PA.

I edited out two of the least likely choices, which leaves us with those two. I’m leaning towards A. bonsallae- there are very few photos on bugguide of A. juniperi (which shouldn’t be my only stop, but I’m feeling lazy today).

Does anyone know where I can download a thing that will convert songs that are longer than three minutes into MP3 files?

I have a converter, but it won’t do more than three minutes of any song. Which blows, because lots of the songs I want to share are longer than that.

Thank you for any assistance provided.
